Sankardev birth anniv celebrated

GUWAHATI, Oct 6 � Srimanta Sankardev Namghar Kalakristi Kendra, Pub-Sarania, celebrated the 566th birth anniversary of Srimanta Sankardev with a three-day programme.

The first day�s programme, on September 28, comprised a quiz completion on the lives and works of the Vaishnava saints Srimanta Sankardev, Madhabdev, Damodardev and Haridev among students from class VII to XII. The second day�s programme on October 2, included ceremonial lighting of lamps by Ganesh Gogoi, Namghar�s adviser and naam prasanga at 6 pm. The highlights of the third day�s programme on October 3 were naam prasanga and Bhagavat path in the morning and a religious discourse on mahapurushia dharma in the afternoon, where Badan Dolakasharia, a Vaishnava scholar hailing from the revered Auniati Satra of Majuli, delivered a valuable lecture highlighting the epoch-making works of Sankardev.

In the meeting, prizes were awarded to the winners of the quiz competition, with the first prize going to Ankita Goswami and Prabhati Boro of B Borooah College. This was stated in a press release.
