Sankaradeva Tithi observed at Bordua

NAGAON, Aug 23 - Like in other parts of the State, Sankaradeva Tithi was observed in Bordua � the birth place of Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva, and other parts of the district.

The religious rituals were performed in Bordua from August 22 with Gandhutsab which was followed by Saru Dhemali and Bahar by Gayan Bayan.

The other rituals performed in Bordua included staging of Bhujan Behar drama, Tal Kubua Prasanga, Manjira Naam, Diha Naam, Kirtan, Naam Prasanga by the women devotees etc.

Bhakats of Salaguri and Narua Satra paid the annual tax (Guru Kar) also.

To mark the Sankaradeva Tithi, an SBI ATM and ambulance service provided by SBI will function at Bordua.

The 448th tithi of the Mahapurush was observed in different satras, naamghars, educational institutions etc. This morning devotees visited the naamghars of their locality and took part in the religious rituals. Maha Prasad was also distributed.

In educational institutions, different competitions relating to Sankari culture were arranged where the students took part with great enthusiasm.
