GUWAHATI, Sept 11 - The 450th death anniversary of Srimanta Sankaradeva was observed in every naamghar and sattra of the State with various cultural and religious elements of neo-Vaishnavism.
In Guwahati, huge gatherings of devotees were seen in every naamghar located in various parts of the city. The intermittent rain that troubled the city during the day, could not deter the devotees from thronging the naamghars.
In most of the naamghars, good numbers of young generation people were also seen among the devotees.
The employees and management of the Assam Tribune Group of Publications also observed the day on the Tribune premises. As part of the celebration, Nagara Naam was performed by invited troupes in the evening. The Tribune campus was also illuminated with earthen lamps on the auspicious occasion.
