GUWAHATI, Sept 27 - Along with rest of the State, Chandan Nagar Namghar (Barpeta Sakha Satra) is going to celebrate the 569th birth anniversary of the 15th-century saint Srimanta Sankaradeva on its premises from September 29 to October 2.
The celebration will begin with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and recitation of the Bhagawat on the first day.
Committee members have also roped in reputed artistes of song and drama for cultural renditions in the evenings. As part of the celebration, a public meeting and a Diha Naam competition among women will also be held. A procession carrying the Bhagawat covering the entire Beltola mouza will also be taken out.
The best three groups of the Diha Naam competition covering greater Guwahati will be felicitated with cash prizes. The committee has asked interested women�s groups to contact the Chandan Nagar Namghar to take part in the competition.
