GUWAHATI, Oct 8 - The 571st birth anniversary of Vaishnavite saint and reformer Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva was celebrated today across the State.
Devotees from different sections of the society paid visit to the namghars since early morning and offered prayers to mark the occasion.
As part of the customary rituals, naam-prasanga and ankiya bhaona were also performed in various parts of the State. Special arrangements were made in different sattras of the State, including those in Majuli, where elaborate arrangements were made.
At several locations of the State, Bhagavad processions were also taken out by various organisations, including Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha.
