GUWAHATI, Oct 25 - Assam Journalist and Literary Pensioners� Association president DN Chakravartty has congratulated educationist, scholar and writer Prof Bhaba Prasad Chaliha on his being offered the prestigious Srimanta Sankaradeva Award this year.
Prof Chaliha and eminent Kathak artiste Jayanta Kastuar have been nominated for the Srimanta Sankaradeva Award-2020 by the Govt of Assam.
Prof Chaliha, who retired from Gauhati University as a professor of Assamese, has been engaged in literary works for the last several decades. He has to his credit over 40 books in Assamese and English in different subjects besides over 300 essays.
�As an active member of Assam Journalist and Literary Pensioners� Association and Sabita Sabha, Chaliha has rendered distinguished services for the propagation of the religious ideals and messages of Srimanta Sankaradeva,� Chakravartty said.
