Sanjit Krishnas bail plea rejected

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 25 - Gauhati High Court today rejected the bail petitions of former Superintendent of Police of Karimganj Kumar Sanjit Krishna and eight others accused in the Sub Inspector recruitment scam.

The other accused include Kaku Moni Nath, Jitu Mikita, Md Anowar Ali, Dilip Gogoi, Priya Nath Gogoi, Mrinal Kumar Nath, Kumud Chandra Goswami and Jogamaya Brahma.

Krishna was represented by senior advocate KN Choudhury. Opposing the prayer for bail, Public Prosecutor PP Baruah stated that Krishna was the mastermind behind leakage of the question paper for money amounting to Rs 40 lakh and the case diary reveals that the accused had hatched up a pre-planned conspiracy along with the other accused. He also submitted that Krishna himself took the photograph of the question paper and transmitted the same to his known candidates.

If bail is granted to the accused at the present stage of investigation, the process of the ongoing investigation is likely to be adversely affected as some of the suspected persons involved in the recruitment scam are yet to be arrested, the Public Prosecutor reasoned.
