Sangma meets Modi, predicts Cong rout

By Spl CORRESPONDENT

NEW DELHI, May 12 Reaffirming his support to the NDA, National Peoples Party (NPP) chief PA Sangma today described Narendra Modi as the future Prime Minister and predicted that the Congress party would face a rout in the Parliamentary election.

Without wasting any time, the shrewd politician from the North-east rushed to Ahmedabad to meet Modi. Although what transpired at the meeting was not immediately known, the timing of the meeting has set tongues wagging.

Later, Sangma told newsmen that he had come to meet the future Prime Minister of the country, adding that the Congress faces a sure defeat in the polls.

Sangmas NPP had formally joined the NDA and the former Lok Sabha Speaker has contested from Tura Lok Sabha seat, replacing his daughter and former union minister of state Agatha Sangma. The other NDA ally is NPF of Nagaland, where the State Chief Minister, N Rio has contested, posing a tough challenge to the opposition Congress party.

On January 22, last year, the NPP had given a letter to LK Advani proposing to join the NDA and in March, BJP president Rajnath Singh gave the final clearance paving the way for NPP to become a coalition partner of the NDA.
