GUWAHATI, April 24 - Three artistes from Assam have been selected for the prestigious awards instituted by the Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA).
Sarodi Saikia is among the 43 artistes chosen for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 2015. She has been awarded for her contribution in the field of Sattriya dance. The awards comprise Rs 1 lakh, a tamrapatra and an angavastram. The awards will be presented by the President of India.
Meanwhile, two artistes from the State have been selected for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, awarded by the SNA to artistes who have shown/demonstrated conspicuous talent in the fields of music, dance and drama. They young talents are Seujpriya Borthakur for Sattriya dance and Shilpika Bordoloi for contemporary and experimental dance.
