DIPHU, June 1 - The United Lumbajong Development Committee, a Diphu-based social organisation, has raised a serious objection against the sand quarry lessees operating illegally in Karbi Anglong district.
The organisation through a memorandum addressed to the Divisional Forest Officer, East Division, Diphu has urged the latter to initiate action against the sand quarry lessees who are carrying on with their activities despite the expiry of their permit.
Apart from expiry of permit, some sand quarry lessees are operating on their own, according to the organisation which urged the authorities concerned to look into the issue seriously and take necessary steps against the same.
