MUSHALPUR, March 22 - Tharsin Lengdup, Deputy Commissioner and Rinzing Dorze, Superintendent of Police of Samdrup Jongkhar district of eastern Bhutan paid a courtesy visit to Ranjan Sarma, Deputy Commissioner of Baksa on Saturday to discuss about precautionary measures taken on either side of the border to check the spread of coronavirus. The meeting was held in the office of the DC of Baksa at Bathoupuri, Mushalpur.
The DC of Samdrup Jongkhar appealed to the Baksa DC for ensuring non-disruption of transportation of essential commodities to Bhutan from Bongaigaon and Siliguri through Baksa district due to the precautionary measures taken by the district authority to check the fatal virus. They also held discussions on the precautionary measures taken by the Baksa district administration against Covid-19 and appreciated the prompt initiative of the State government as well as the district administration.
Meanwhile, in view of the indefinite postponement of the BTC election by the Election Commission in the wake of the global corona outbreak, the Baksa DC appealed to all the candidates of the ensuing BTC polls not to hold public meetings and gatherings until further announcement of the poll date.
