SAKP wants pay-related issues settled before Bihu

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 4 - The steering committee of the Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) today made an appeal to the State government to settle the issues raised by the Parishad before the ensuing Rongali Bihu through talks.

It demanded that the recommendations of the latest pay commission of the State be put into effect from January 1, 2016 and the arrears for 21 months against the pay revision be released expeditiously.

The SAKP steering committee in its meeting also expressed serious concern over the failure of the State government to make public the report of the Anomalies Committee even after the passage of three months of the submission of the report by the Committee. The steering committee demanded immediate publication of the report of the Anomalies Committee.

It further demanded urgent steps to implement the free medical treatment scheme for the benefit of State government employees and steps to settle at the earliest the issues concerning wages and other benefits to casual, fixed pay and muster roll workers engaged in different State government departments as per the directive of the Gauhati High Court.

The SAKP steering committee also urged the State government to ensure security of jobs of its contractual employees and drew the attention of the government towards the resentment caused among government employees in the wake of the decision to increase the office and school hours.
