SAKP hails decisions of education dept

GUWAHATI, June 8 - The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) on Monday said that the decisions taken by the State education department will strengthen the government schools of Assam.

Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma yesterday announced regularisation of posts of contractual teachers and free admissions from the Higher Secondary level to postgraduate, among others.

Issuing a statement, SAKP president Pradip Dutta and general secretary Mrinal Das today welcomed the government�s decisions.

�The State education department has taken several important decisions which will help the economically poor students and the contractual teachers of the State. The services of the contractual teachers will be protected up to 60 years of age, and they will be eligible for all government facilities like DA, CPF, benefits of pay revision, leaves, etc. We also urge the government to take measures to regularise all the contractual teachers,� the statement added.
