SAKP demands report within time limit

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Aug 11 The Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) today demanded submission of the report of the Anomalies Committee headed by former IAS officer CK Das within the limit of the extended time.

In a statement, the parishad has also called for steps to release the arrear amounts due to the State Government employees for the 29 months between January 2006 and March 2009, introduction of the time scale promotion system for the State employees similar to the Central Government employees, etc.

The Government should also withdraw the circular issued in matters of house rent allowance that has created problems for those couples who are State Government employees.

The governments failure to meet the grievances of the employees on the issues of conveyance allowance, training allowance, health care facilities, etc., has also made the employees resentful.

The departments used to settle the disputes relating to the salaries of the employees through their own efforts between 1996 and 2008, but the 2010 Assam Pay Revision Rule has not included all these things. The organisations of the employees have been taking up the issue with the authorities, but these anomalies remained to be removed, said the SAKP.

The government is yet to issue any directive on the issue of separate pay scales and special allowances to the heads of the primary schools run by the State Government. Moreover, there was a provision earlier for facilitating first class train journey to all those State Government employees whose monthly basic pay exceeded Rs 4210. But the present arrangements have made this category of the employees travel in second class. Despite the SAKPs appeal to the Government to remove all such anomalies, there has been no step yet to redress the grievances of the employees on these issues, resented the parishad.
