GUWAHATI, April 30 � The family members of Sajida Begum, who was allegedly set on fire by her husband on April 27 and is currently undergoing treatment at the GMCH with 99 per cent burn injuries, have moved the State Women�s Commission, urging it to expedite the police inquiry into the incident and nab the culprits responsible for the crime.
In a statement, the family members alleged that the police was lax in apprehending Sajida�s husband even though an FIR had been lodged at the Hatigaon police station on April 27.
The family members alleged that Sajida�s husband, Md Fazir Ali, had been torturing her physically and mentally for about four years before setting her on fire on April 27. They also alleged that Fazir�s second wife was an accomplice in the crime.
