DERGAON, Feb 3 � Saiful Ali of Barpeta secured the first place (Rs 10,000) in the All Assam Prize money Marathon held from Pulibar Tiniali to Dergaon today. Mansid Orea of Tinsukia and Lakhan Bothra of Tinsukia won the 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
Rudreswar Deka of Dergaon, Jalil Ali of Kamrup, Bijoy Deka of Jorhat, Budhen Kalita of Golaghat, Sahidul Sikdar of Barpeta, Parag Kr Deka of Morigaon and Jagat Payang of Jorhat secured 4th to 10th postions respectively.
The marathon, organised by Aashray, an NGO for environment protection, had the theme �Let Us Share in Environment Protection� was inaugurated by Golaghat DC Sanjib Gohain Baruah in the presence of Arjuna awardee Bhogeswar Baruah. A total of 151 runnres participated in the 21-km run.
Tapan Kr Gohain chaired the meeing held today on the occasion, which was also attended by Bhogeswar Baruah as the chief guest. DIG Prabin Ch Saikia and LICI developmental Hasan Ahmed Hazarika were the other guests. Out of 151 competitors, 111 completed the race.
