GUWAHATI, Oct 31 - Saidul Alam Ahmed of Dibrugarh and Mallika Gogoi of Duliajan emerged proud winners in the men�s and women�s categories in the 63rd Donic Sitaram Agarwala Inter District and State Table Tennis Championship.
In the finals played at the Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium here today, Saidul defeated Bhaskarjyoti Sarma of Golaghat 4-0 while Mallika trounced Mahasweta Batsalya of Guwahati 4-1.
Jitakhee Mazumdra of Guwahati and Sankab Gautam Baruah of OIL clinched the girls� and boys� titles in the Youth section. Whiel Jitakhee edged past her Guwahati compratriot Kakoli Lahkar 4-2, Sankab downed Aditya Dey of Guwahati 4-1.
Akansha Bhuyan of Dibrugarh and Aditya Dey won junior girls� and boys� titles respectively. Akansha beat Trisha Gogoi of Golaghat 4-0 while Aditya got the better of Eleeko Sujalo Hazarika of Guwahati 4-1 in the summit clashes.
The sub junior girls� and boys� crowns went to Trisha Gogoi and Arka Kr Gogoi (Guwahati) respectively. Trisha defeated Prayakhee Baruah of Dibrugarh 3-2 while Arka beat Manashjyoti Bhuyan of Dibrugarh 3-2.
City girl Akanksha Deka won the cadet title while Adrian Hazarika bagged the cadet boys� crown with victories against Swati Raj (Guwahati, 3-1) and Kaustav Gogoi (Dibrugarh, 3-2) respectively.
In the closing function State Minister Bismita Gogoi was the chief guest. Commissioner, Sports Department Ajay Tiwari, Director Anjan Sarma were also present on the occasion as guests.
