TEZPUR, June 1 - The Asam Sahitya Sabha (ASS) conferred the prestigious Sahitya-Surya Lumberdai Award- 2019 on noted litterateur, former president of the Sabha, Rongbong Terang, at a function organised in connection with the 80th birth anniversary of Sahitya Surya Lumberdai at Lumberdai Bhawan here today.

Receiving the award, Terang mentioned that he was overwhelmed with the award conferred on him in memory of such a great figure like Lumberdai.

Expressing his gratitude towards the ASS, Terang said it was not simply an award, rather a noble mechanism initiated by the Sabha, bridging the gaps between the people of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh in general and Karbi Anglong in particular, thereby strengthening the ethnic fabric among different communities living in the region.

He urged the Sabha to keep the contribution of the great literary figure Lumberdai alive through such programmes.

In his speech, Terang also mentioned that the Assamese language is the easiest language in the world.

Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbangshi said the Assamese language will always remain acceptable, as the Asam Sahitya Sabha has been doing hard work for its uplift.
