SAG to boost NE sports

GUWAHATI, Jan 11 - The Union Minister of Sports Sonowal, while interacting with media persons here last evening said that the 12th South Asian Games (SAG) is a matter of pride for the entire North-Eastern region and it will immensely contribute towards the development of sports in the region and boost the sportsmanship of its people.

The 12th SAG is scheduled from February 5 to 16 in Guwahati and Shillong.

Rajiv Yadav, secretary, sports, Government of India and Injeti Srinivas, CEO, organising committee-SAG were also present during the interaction.

Sonowal also appealed to the media fraternity seeking their cooperation in the conduct of the Games urging them to participate in the Games and make it a success.

The Minister thanked the State Government for its support to the Games and expressed hope that the Games will usher in an era of development in sports, economy and tourism in Assam and the North-Eastern region.

Injeti Srinivas gave a vivid and detailed overview of the Games and its preparedness. Touching upon all aspects of the Games, he said that the 12th South Asian Games will be the best Games till date.
