NORTH LAKHIMPUR, May 2 � Veteran sportsperson, media entrepreneur and social worker Safiqul Lateef Baruah was remembered here on the occasion of his chalisa on Thursday.
A public meeting was held on the occasion at his residence which was chaired by Dr Pushpa Nath Borah, retired principal of Dhemaji College. Many prominent citizens of Lakhimpur district and other parts of the State attended the meeting and recalled the multifaceted life and various aspects of the works and achievements of late Baruah in the meeting.
Principal of Biswanath Commerce College, Aftabuddin Ahmed, Dr Chandra Phukan, Zikir exponent Azimuddin Ahmed, sports journalist Jatin Saikia, veteran scribe Abu Sayed Khan and many others spoke about the life and works of late Safiqul Lateef Baruah besides paying glowing tributes. A souvenir on late Baruah was released on the occasion by Rohinee Goswami, prominent citizen and CPI leader. Another book on the tabloid Na-Lakhimee, founded by late Baruah was released by Muhibul Hussain, a retired IIS officer.
