Sadou Asom Saloi Sanmilan convention from today

GORESWAR, March 17 - The 44th biennial Sadou Asom Saloi Sanmilan convention will be held at Pubjoykuchi-Garka village of Patidarrang mouza in Kamrup district (R) with a two- day programme on March 18-19.

On March 18, Tarun Kakati will conduct the prabhat pheri at 5 am which will be followed by flag hosting by Munindra Kumar Deka, president, Sadou Asom Saloi Sanmilan (SASS) at 8 am. Bireswar Barua, in-charge secretary, SASS will perform smriti tarpan at 9 am while the sapling plantation will be planted by Nalini Kanta Sarma, accounts officer along with other ten participants at 9.30 am. At 11 am, the executive body meet of SAAS will be held which will be followed by the registration of the representatives at 3 pm Jiten Saloi, distinguished social worker will inaugurate the door of the representative camp at 5 pm. At 6 pm, the earthen lamp lighting programme will be held. The representative and subject selection meet will be held at 6.15 pm and it will be inaugurated by Nagendra Nath Kakati, retired Professor, Pub Kamrup College which will be followed by a cultural show at 8.30 pm.

On March 19, prabhat pheri and �swachh abhijaan� will start at 6am and 7am while Kashmiri Saikia Barua, distinguished actress will inaugurate a cultural procession and it will be conducted by Gagan Deka, DO, LIC, Babul Kakati, actor and Kabin Raj, actor respectively on this occasion, a felicitation meet will be held at 12 am which will be inaugurated by Hemanta Saloi, retired administrative officer while Sadananda Talukdar, executive president, SASS will conduct it.

At 2 pm, the open meet will be held with Munindra Kumar Deka, president, SASS as chairman while Manoj Kumar Barman, ex-secretary, SASS will inaugurate it. Ramcharan Tamuli, distinguished writer, Nalbari and Ramen Deka, MP, Mangaldoi Parliamentary constituency will grace it as the appointed speaker as well as chief guest Satyabrat Kalita, MLA, Kamalpur LAC, Bhabesh Kalita, MLA, Rangia LAC, Binanda Kumar Saikia, MLA, Sipajhar LAC, Suman Haripriya, MLA, Hajo LAC etc., will take part as distinguished guests.

Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi, Chief Secretary, Asam Sahitya Sabha will release the souvenir. A book titled Saloi jati ek adhyan written by Ramcharan Tamuli will be released by Naba Thakuria, secretary, Guwahati Press Club which will be followed by a cultural nite by Bhrigu Kashyap, renowned artist.
