Sadbhavana Diwas observed

SILCHAR, Aug 20 - As a tribute to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 76th birth anniversary, Sadbhavana Diwas was observed in a befitting manner in Cachar district on Thursday.

Against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district administration issued an order for strict compliance of measures like social distancing, wearing of masks, use of hand sanitizers, washing of hands, thermal screening while observing the Diwas.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Roy administered a pledge to officials to promote national integration and communal harmony. District Development Commissioner Jessica Lalsim, Additional Deputy Commissioner Anis Rasul Mazumder and Assistant Commissioner Vibhor Aggarwal were also present. Sadbhavana Diwas was also observed in the Water Resources Department, District Elementary Education Department, PHE Department, DDIPR Office, Assistant Labour Commissioner Office, Assistant Commissioner of Taxes, Fishery Development Office, etc.

Hailakandi Correspondent adds: Sadbhavana Diwas was also observed in Hailakandi district. The theme was to promote national integration and communal harmony and spread the message of goodwill towards everyone and eschewing violence.

Officials took the pledge to work for �the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language� and to resolve all differences �through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to violence�.

DC Megh Nidhi Dahal administered the pledge. District Development Commissioner Vikram Dev Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Mongve Enghi were present.
