JALUKBARI, Aug 22 - NSS volunteers of Gauhati University and its affiliated colleges celebrated �Tiranga March� in the university campus today to mark the 70th year of India�s independence.
Speaking on the occasion, Director, Students� Welfare and Programme Coordinator, NSS of GU Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati elaborated on the freedom movement in India and the role of the freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for freeing India from British rule. Every Indian citizen should respect and pay tribute to all the people involved in the freedom movement, Dr Kakati said.
NSS volunteers carried the national flag, besides placards depicting messages and slogans of nationalism. A large number of NSS volunteers from GU PG classes, West Guwahati Commerce College and Handique Girls� College participated in the programme.
