MANGALDAI, April 29 - The Darrang district branch of the Asam Sahitya Sabha is going to organise a function at the Youth Club here on May 1 to mark the birth anniversary of renowned writer, poet, lyricist, academician and former vice president of the literary body, Prof Idris Ali.
The function, which is slated to start from 2 pm, will include literary and cultural programmes. These programmes will feature release of books, rendition of songs composed by Prof Ali, his felicitation, and presentation of a short documentary on the life and works of the eminent litterateur.
Prominent poet Aniz-uz-Zaman, cultural activist and senior physician Dr Anjanjyoti Choudhury and the secretary general of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Parmananda Rajbongshi, will be among the distinguished invitees scheduled to attend the function.
