JORHAT, Aug 16 � The Asam Sahitya Sabha is going to offer MA courses in Assamese and English literature at the Radhakanta Handique Bhawan here from September, 2010. The course will be under the Directorate of Distance education affiliated to the Dibrugarh University. Experienced faculty members will teach the students here. This was stated in a press release by Paramananda Rajbonshi, general secretary, Asam Sahitya Sabha.
Rajbonshi also put emphasis on providing facilities to learn the Assamese language by outsiders, giving scope for research in the language and translating the Assamese masterpieces into other languages of the world. He also revealed that the process of teaching the Assamese language in a scientific way through the Internet to the non-Assamese and the children of Assamese people living outside Assam was going on in full swing.
