Sabha president feted by Moran organisations

TINSUKIA, March 16 � The office-bearers of all the organisations of the Moran community felicitated Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora on Sunday on the premises of the office of Tinsukia Anchalik Moran Chatra Santha at Gelapukhuri here.

In the interaction held on the occasion, the Moran leaders urged the Sabha president to take necessary steps for deleting the derogatory words, sentences against the Moran community from the works of several eminent writers, namely, Lakshminath Bezbaroa, Hem Chandra Baruah, Atul Chandra Hazarika, Lila Gogoi, Chandra Kotoky, Tarini Choudhury, Gyanendra Pathak, Sarbeswer Sharmah, Lakhi Devi and others.

In this respect, the Moran leaders apprised the Sabha president that these faulty literary works were nothing but the results of conspiracies against the Moran community hatched in the fag end of the Ahom reign. The derogatory remarks made against the Moran community in the Assamese literary works have engraved negative feelings about the Moran community in the society that continue even today, they added and requested the Sabha president to take necessary steps in this regard.

They also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the Sabha president. Dr Bora, in his response, assured that the Sabha would extend all its cooperation for allround development of the Moran community. Prior to the interaction, Dr Bora paid tribute to the Moran hero, Raghav Moran who not only defeated the Ahom King but also took the Moran community to a new high.

In the interaction, the Moran organisations were represented by Arunjyoti Moran, president, All Moran Students Union, Diteswer Moran, president, Asom Moran Sabha, Sukhidhor Dohotia, president, Sodou Moran Kala-Sanskriti Bikash Kendra, Jinu Baruah, president, Moran Jatiya Mahila Parishad, Sukhen Neog, president, Moran Jatiya Karmachari Saikshik Bikash Mancha, Tarun Baruah Moran, president, Moran Sahitya Sabha and other office-bearers of the organisations.
