GUWAHATI, Jan 1 - Brisk preparations are afoot to celebrate the 23rd annual religious Sabha Mahotsov at Shri Shri Jayhari Pitar Than of Sathikuchi (Nalbari) with a three-day colourful programme on January 16, 17 and 18. This was stated in a press release.
In this connection, a celebration committee along with six subcommittees were constituted under the guidance of Sarat Barman, �Than Adhikarta� with Surjya Kt Kakati as president, Haladhar Barman as working president, Jatindra Kr Das as secretary, Chabin Ch Baishya, Karuna Barman and Haladhar Barman as office secretaries and Chabin Medhi and Sailen Barman as publicity secretaries.
The first day�s programme will begin at 6.30 am with meji prajjalan by Surjya Kt Kakati followed by Bhagabat sthapan, opening of the main gate of the temple by Amiya Kalita, distinguished social worker, banti prajjalan by Sarat Barman, tree plantation programme by Jyotish Sarma, member, Tihu Zila Parishad. At 9 am, a programme of panitola by 11 girls below the age of 9 years, will be inaugurated by Bitumani Devi, president, Nalbari Zila Parishad. At 10 am, Dr Nripendra Nath Sarma, retired principal, Krishna Kanta Govt Sanskrit College, Guwahati will light the lamp at Garakhiya Seva Anusthan where 108 boys below the age of nine years will participate. The programme will be inaugurated by Ganesh Tamuli of the North-East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute, Guwahati. At 11 am, Chief Minister Tarun Gagoi will lay the foundation stone of the main temple. The prasad and bhog bitaran function of 108 boys below the age of nine years will be attended by Sisir Kr Baruah, Education Secretary, Hiren Saharia, prominent social worker, Narayan Ch Goswami, Nripendra Kr Bhagabati, Tilak Ch Sarma, Pallab Bhattacharya, Nava Kr Sarania, Maneswar Brahma and Sidheswar Sarma.
The second day�s programme will include cleanliness drive, banti prajjalan, Bhagabat path, nagara naam and cultural nite etc., the release added.
