SILCHAR, May 13 - The Silchar branch of the Asam Sahitya Sabha will celebrate the Rongali Bihu on Saturday and Sunday. The main celebration will be held on the premises of Tarun Ram Phukan Higher Secondary School. This is the 32nd edition of the Rongali Bihu celebration.
Nagen Chandra Boro, working president of the Rongali Bihu celebration committee, said that besides competitive events like Mou Kunwari, Bihu Kunwari and Bihu Husori, the special attraction will be the performance by popular Bihu dance group Shining Serenga Sanskritik Gosthi, which will showcase the past dance culture of different linguistic communities of the State.
A cultural show will be inaugurated by S Vishwanathan, Deputy Commissioner, Cachar. Amarendra Barua, Deputy Commissioner of Dima Hasao district, will also attend the celebrations, Boro said. There will also be special performance by popular singer Shubasana Dutta. A souvenir will be released on the concluding day of the celebrations. �We urge the people from all sections to join the celebrations,� Boro said.
