Sabha appeal to CM on Assamese language

GUWAHATI, June 22 - Asam Sahitya Sabha president Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi today hailed the announcement made by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis that learning the Marathi language would be made compulsory through a legislation in all schools of Maharashtra, no mater whether they are governed by the CBSE or the ICSE syllabus.

Dr Rajbongshi has appealed to Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal to adopt a similar legislation in the next session of the State Assembly to make learning of Assamese and indigenous languages of the State compulsory in the State�s schools. He also urged the Chief Minister to take appropriate measures for implementation of the State�s Official Language Act in the ensuing session of the State Assembly.
