SILCHAR, May 25 � S Viswanathan, IAS, has assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner of Cachar district, taking over from Gokul Mohan Hazarika.
Talking to the media, Vishwanathan said his focus will be on maintaining a strong law and order and eyeing the overall development of the district.
�I shall keep round-the-clock vigil on the administrative activities of the district,� he said.
Meanwhile, immediately after taking charge, Viswanathan paid a visit to the Cachar treasury to take stock of the situation there.
It may be mentioned that Viswanathan was the former Joint Secretary to the Government of Assam (Home & Political Departments). Before joining as the Deputy Commissioner of Cachar, he was the Commissioner of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation.
