MOSCOW, June 14: Hosts Russia thrashed Saudi Arabia 5-0 in the inaugural match of the FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 at the Luzhniki Stadium here today. Yuri Gazinsky started the proceedings with a goal in the 12th minute while Denis Cheryshev scored a brace with goals in the 43rd and additional minutes of the game. Artem Dzyuba (71st) and Aleksandr Golovin (90+4) were the other scorers.
