Ruskin Bond regales audience at literary fest

GUWAHATI, Oct 21 - Celebrated author Ruskin Bond today regaled the audience at the North East Literary Fest organized by the Royal Group of Institutions in collaboration with the North East Writers� Forum.

It turned out to be a memorable occasion for the audience comprising children and adults who attended the event in their hundreds. The excitement was visible as they spoke and listened to the legend, took selfies and asked questions.

No less delighted was the writer who was his ebullient self while speaking and interacting with the children � the love of his life celebrated through his literary works.

The moderators for �In Conversation with Ruskin Bond�, Dhruba Hazarika and Shrutimala Duarah had an interactive session with Bond where they also put some questions to him. Questions were also asked by the audience � which he replied with his trademark humour, adroitness and poise.

A panel discussion on �Children�s Literature: Reality or Fairy Tale� was another highlight where panelists were Arup Kumar Dutta, Bandita Phukan, Geeta Dharmarajan, Shinie Anthony, Rashmi Narzary and Shrutimala Duarah shared the dais with Bond.

The audience also interacted with Bond and shared their views.

Another panel discussion on �Fictionalizing Facts� followed in the afternoon. The participants were Jerry Pinto, Shinie Antony, Tayenjam Bijoy Kumar Singh, Mamang Dai, Dhruba Hazarika and Prof Ashes Gupta. The book Remember Death by Ankush Saikia was released on the occasion.
