Ruling NDA will win all seats in Assam: Ranjeet Dass

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, April 5 - The ruling NDA will make a clean sweep by winning from all the constituencies of Assam in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, said State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass here today.

Addressing a press conference, Dass said people of the State have benefited a lot under the government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and added that the prospects for the ruling NDA in Assam are very good in the parliamentary polls.

For the last 15 days, I have moved around a lot across the five constituencies which will go to elections in the first phase. I have met the common voters at villages, small hamlets, towns and tea gardens. From the response I have got, I can categorically state that our victory is certain in all the five constituencies, he said.

Dass added that the alliance between the BJP, AGP and BPF as well as three other smaller parties means that there will be no division of votes in the coming elections and exuded confidence that the ruling NDA would be able to win from all the 14 constituencies of Assam.

Dass said BJP has been able to strengthen its organisational base across the State in the recent years and has established committees in 26,000 booths.

People of the State themselves are justifying the Akou Ebar, Modi Sarkar slogan of our party and they have given the reasons regarding why they want another term for Modi as the Prime Minister, added Dass.

He claimed that BJPs inner-party democracy as well as the partys faith in the parliamentary system has been a big hit with the masses.

Voters have understood that BJP believes in democracy, while the Congress believes in rule by dynasty. People have understood this reality. Earlier, the Congress was the dominant force for many decades and non-Congress parties did not have much of a base across the nook and corner of the State. So, nobody told the truth to the people. But now, we have shown the reality to the masses and offered an alternative vision, said the State BJP chief.

People of the State have noted the efficiency shown by the Prime Minister in governing the country during the last five years. They have also seen the commitment of the Prime Minister towards Assam and the North East. This is in stark contrast to Rahul Gandhi who lacks any knowledge regarding Assam and its culture and heritage, he said.

Dass claimed that there was a lot of corruption in government schemes like the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY) and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) during the previous Congress regimes. The BJP government has been able to plug the loopholes and provide clean governance. Schemes are now reaching the intended beneficiaries, said the saffron party leader.

He also alleged that the Congress and the AIUDF have entered into an understanding for the Lok Sabha polls.

Earlier, there was a secret tie-up between Tarun Gogoi and Badruddin Ajmal. Now, there is an open alliance and that is why AIUDF has refrained from putting up its candidate in most of the constituencies. Tarun Gogoi is worried that his son Gaurav may lose from Kaliabor this time and so this tie-up with the AIUDF, said Dass.

In the last LS elections held in 2014, the BJP, contesting on its own, had secured seven seats in the State, while three seats each were won by the Congress and the AIUDF and one seat had gone to an independent candidate.
