Ruins of US World War-II plane found

SONARI, Sept 14 � The ruins of an American war plane, which had crashed during the Second World War, was found at No. 1 Kathiakhunda village under Sapekhati Police Station within Charaideo subdivision recently. After seven decades of the crash, American agencies identified the location of the crash site through software technology.

The American embassy furnished the data of the possible location to the Indian government which forwarded it to the Assam Government. Accordingly, the SP, Sivasagar was informed who communicated it to the SDPO, Charaideo. Lastly, Pranab Kumar Pegu, SDPO, Charaideo found the ruins of the American war plane inside the field of Kumud Sharma, at No. 1 Kathiakhunda village.

One container-like substance weighing 7.7 kg made of aluminium-like metal was also found in the house of Nagendra Nath Sharma, whose family had preserved it since then. Pegu said the members of the American government would arrive here soon to receive the ruins of the plane.
