DIPHU, Sept 15 - A mob of local people created ruckus in a public meeting held at Howraghat Devasthan Bazar here on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred when the AIUDF MLA, Swapan Kor, was addressing the crowd. The ruckus was triggered over an issue of diverting the State highway from Howraghat Debasthan-Nilbagaon road.
During the MLA�s speech, the public alleged that the highway was diverted under instruction of the AIUDF chief, Badruddin Ajmal, and the MP and local MLA, Abdur Rahim Ajmal. The public alleged that the sanctioned road was diverted towards their supporters� area connecting Kapash Bari road via Hojai.
When Kor tried to clarify on the reason of diverting of the highway, the annoyed public started pelting stones. However, the police managed to save the MLA unhurt from the spot. Later, the police took the situation under control.
