RSC�s Innovation Festival from Feb 14

GUWAHATI, Feb 3 � The Regional Science Centre, Guwahati, is organizing an Innovation Festival on February 14-15 in collaboration with the National Innovation Foundation India at the Centre�s premises here.

Students, families, artisans and established innovators from all over Assam and other resource persons from different parts of India will be invited to showcase their creativity in their respective fields.

The festival, the first of its kind to be held in the North East, is intended to give the participants a platform to exchange their ideas and creations, said Pramod Grover, Project Coordinator of RSC Guwahati.

During the event, individual innovators will showcase their creativity with demonstration.

More than 25 innovators from Assam will take part with their creativities in the festival. The innovators will be from different fields of arts, science and culture such as artisans who may be invited to demonstrate their skills and the art.

Activities will be organized for different categories of participants like families, students, housewives and unskilled persons using different kinds of stuff from old household gadgets, toys, etc.

The groups can experiment and explore possibilities to make sculptures, pictures, jewellery and other items.

Trophies and appreciation certificates will be awarded for best products.

A �Creative Space� will be set up dedicated to using materials from scraps for creatively reusing them. Some scientific parts or scrap materials will be available for making any scientific kits or toys.

In addition, participants will be invited to come and solve challenging problems at every session.

Besides, outside experts and Science Centre staff will also perform their creativities on various themes.

Professionals and experts from IIT-Guwahati, universities and scientific organizations will be invited to deliver talk on topics like �How to Innovate�, �Innovation Landscape in India� and �How to Protect Your Ideas: Patenting�.

This festival will henceforth be organized every year in the RSC Guwahati.
