TURA, May 12 - Intensive checking of vehicles led to the recovery of Rs 5 lakh from a vehicle at Jengjal village, about 32 kms from here, allegedly meant for distribution to voters for the upcoming MP elections.
Intensive checks were carried out today with even the vehicle carrying Union Minister Jual Oram being checked.
A white coloured Bolero, was checked by the authorities from where the amount was recovered.
The money was seized and the vehicle brought to Tura where Returning Officer Pravin Bakshi said an investigation would be made to identify the source of money. The authorities, however, did not disclose the owner of the vehicle or the persons involved.
