GUWAHATI, April 20 - Joining the government�s efforts to help the poor and needy people during the COVID-19-induced lockdown, socio-economic trust Arman Sheikh Foundation has so far distributed food items among more than 10,000 families of Bharalumukh, Goshala Hill (Pandu), College Gate Hill (Pandu), Kotahbari, Noonmati Sector-1, Hatigaon, Dakshingaon, Gitamandir and Uzanbazar in Kamrup (M) district and at many places in other districts.

According to a press release issued here today, the items distributed included rice, dal, mustard oil, salt, potato, etc. The foundation has also contributed Rs 5 lakh to the Assam Arogya Nidhi.

Members of Bhaskarnagar Unnayan Samiti and Bhaskarnagar Durga Puja Committee jointly distributed food items such as rice, pulses, mustard oil, potato, onions, soybean and biscuits to 498 families living in 26 lanes and bylanes through door-to-door delivery maintaining all government restrictions, norms and safety measures, till April 18, said a press release on Monday.

The two organisations aim to reach out to 600 families altogether. The fund was raised through donations from the members of the two organisations, the release added.
