DIBRUGARH, March 30 � Personnel from the Directorate of Income Tax (Investigation) seized Rs 4.29 crore from the residence of Dr Nirmal Kumar Sahewalla, managing director of Aditya Diagnostics and Hospitals here and the same was deposited in the main branch of the State Bank of India today, sources informed.
The seized cash was reportedly brought in two trunks. Investigating officials assisted by local Income Tax officials simultaneously raided Aditya Diagnostics and Hospitals in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivasagar as well as the residence of the MD yesterday.
The IT officials also raided the residence of neurosurgeon Dr Anil Pannalal. Dr Sahewalla could not be contacted for comments as his mobile phone was kept in switched-off mode.
