GUWAHATI, Nov 19 � The Kamrup Metro district administration has released fund amounting to Rs 37,45,800 under the Mukhyamantrir Jivanjyoti Programme for the financial year 2013-14 through the District Social Welfare Department.
Under it, 160 beneficiaries will get financial assistance. Of them 106 are cancer patients and each will receive Rs 25,000 for their treatment, official sources said.
Further, the next of kin of 17 dead persons will get financial assistance to the tune of Rs 50,000 each under the programme.
Meanwhile, the process of selection of beneficiaries for the year 2014-15 will be started shortly.
The District Social Welfare Officer has been directed to collect the applications from eligible persons through concerned agencies and complete the selection process within December.
