GUWAHATI, Aug 2 Porcupine interventions done under the Nagaghuli Protection Project in Dibrugarh have been able to raise the bed of the deep channel hugging the bank in the area, to about four metres. This has been able to control erosion and reduced the threat to the area to a great extent, said highly placed sources in the Water Resources Department (WRD).
Sources also told The Assam Tribune that an anti-erosion project with an estimated cost of Rs 344 crore, prepared for protecting the Rohmoria area in Dibrugarh and submitted in the early part of 2009, is awaiting approval of the Central Government.
