GUWAHATI, Jan 16 - After a brief lull, snatchers have hit the city streets once again, this time targeting two bank employees snatching Rs 25 lakh from them in broad daylight.
The snatchers came in a two-wheeler and attacked the bank employees who were carrying the cash and decamped with the money.
Police said the two employees of the Apex Bank were carrying the cash collected from the IDBI Bank this afternoon when they were attacked.
Since both the banks are situated in close proximity in the Panbazar area, the bank employees did not feel the need to take the security personnel along. We have recorded the statements of the two employees and investigation is on. A case has been registered in this connection, police said.
Guwahati has, of late, seen a rise in the incidents of snatching, with the security set-up found wanting in checking even the daylight crimes.
