Rs 25 cr for Bodoland varsity

KOKRAJHAR, June 2 - The State Government has sanctioned Rs 25 crore for infrastructure development of Bodoland University, Kokrajhar and the funds will be released within August this year.

Announcing the government decision, Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told the media persons on the university premises here today that the construction works of the medical college at Kokrajhar will be started soon. He said for academic uplift of colleges in the BTAD region the State Government has allotted extra budget.

The minister visited Bodoland University and BB Engineering College here for a review of the institutions. BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary, deputy chief Kampa Borgoyari, Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary and BPF MLA Chandan Brahma accompanied him.

During his one-day visit, Sarma also inaugurated a digital library system in the Kamal Kumar Brahma Central Library at Science College, Kokrajhar.

Sarma later attended a party meeting here where the presidents and secretaries of district and mandal committees of four BTAD districts participated. BJP State president Ranjeet Dass also attended the meeting.
