Rs 148.26 crore for Tripura under AMRUT

AGARTALA, Aug 25 - Tripura will receive Rs 148.26 crore to take up various projects like sewerage system, expansion of water supply network and cooking gas production by using solid waste under AMRUT, official sources said here on Friday.

AMRUT � Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation � is aimed at boosting urban facilities in some select cities across the country. Agartala is one of them.

Principal Secretary, Urban Development, Manoj Kumar told reporters that the State has already received Rs 30 crore under AMRUT. �A DPR amounting to Rs 115.91 crore has already been approved of to strengthen water supply at Usha Bazar and Panchamukh area of Agartala Municipal Corporation,� he said.

There will be water treatment plants along with deep tube wells and pipelines will also be laid in two areas to boost water supply under the flagship programme, he added.

Three cooking gas producing plants will be set up at Agartala, Udaipur and Dharmanagar, Kumar said, adding that the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre would provide expertise to implement the three projects.

Under AMRUT, beautification drive will be carried out in Satlakhi Pukur, Kamar Pukur and a lake near the Budhjungnagar Girls� School, he said.
