GUWAHATI, May 9 - The Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL) has incurred a total loss of Rs 1,138.52 lakh due to the stormy weather condition this pre-Monsoon season.
A report submitted by APDCL Managing Director Pradyut Bujarbarua to the States Additional Chief Secretary (Power) has electricity region-wise assessed the damage caused by the stormy weather condition to the APDCL power supply network. The Central Assam Region (CAR) has incurred the highest loss due to the storms, the MD said.
The Lower Assam Region (LAR) incurred a loss of Rs 438.52 lakh, while the Central Assam Region (CAR) incurred a loss of Rs 590 lakh and the Upper Assam Region (UAR) incurred a loss of Rs 110 lakh.
However, the APDCL MD said in his report that a detailed report, including certification from the district authorities, will be submitted in due course of time.
It may be mentioned that due to damage caused to its power distribution network by storms during the second half of April this year, the APDCL could not supply around 200 MW of power, on an average, every day during this period. However, over 95 per cent restoration of the damaged power supply network could be achieved as of now, said sources in the APDCL.
