Rs 1000-cr scheme for BPL people

GUWAHATI, Oct 31 � The State government is going to spend Rs 1000 crore for the welfare of the people living below poverty line in the next four years. This scheme would be launched in the name of late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Announcing the new scheme Indira Daridra Nivaran Achani on Monday at a function held in memory of Indira Gandhi on the occasion of her 27th death anniversary at Rajiv Bhawan here, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said that the scheme would benefit the poverty-struck population of the State.

Floral tribute was paid to the late Prime Minister and her contribution for the welfare of the downtrodden was recalled at the solemn function that was attended by many senior Congress leaders.
