Rs 1 lakh to successful candidates

GUWAHATI, May 24 � Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today said that the State Government will give an assistance of Rs 1 lakh each to those selected for admissions in the Indian Institute of Technology from the State, an official press release stated.

Gogoi announced this while speaking at a function held at Pragjyotika, an educational institute situated at Titabor in Jorhat. He also stressed for the improvement in the standard of the existing educational system.

�The State Government is taking a slew of measures to improve the infrastructure of our educational system and to enable our students to compete at the highest level,� the release stated, adding, � Steps are also being taken to ensure that no child, however poor is not deprived of education.� Gogoi also announced an assistance of Rs 20 lakh for Pragjyotika.
