GUWAHATI, May 18 For catering to security-related needs of the rail travellers, a RPF security helpline toll-free number, 182, has been introduced and operationalised in the Indian Railway system.
The main objective of security helpline number is to render immediate security-related assistance to the rail users, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Chief Public Relation Officer Pranav Jyoti Sharma said in a statement.
It is functioning at all the Divisional Security Control Rooms all over the Indian Railways round-the-clock. Whenever any call from passenger in distress is received by the control room, the complaint, train number etc., will be noted down and immediately relayed to train escort personnel of the train as well as nearest RPF post for immediate follow-up action.
This initiative is one more step taken by the Railways to ensure safe and secure journey of all rail users, Sharma said.
