RPF recover drugs worth over Rs 35 L

GUWAHATI, May 29 - Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) successfully intercepted smuggling of contraband goods and recovered narcotics and cannabis valued at Rs 35.49 lakh during the week from May 20 to 26.

�In one such case, on May 20, a team of RPF personnel based in Guwahati recovered 500 grams of morphine inside packets valued at Rs 35 lakh. The packets were thrown away by some unidentified persons from the Rajdhani Express while the train was leaving the Guwahati Railway Station,� said Pranav Jyoti Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NF Railway.

In another incident, on May 21 a RPF team of Hojai under the Lumding Division recovered four packets of cannabis weighing about 7 kg while conducting a routine check in the Dibrugarh-Kolkata Express.
