RPF drives against touts

GUWAHATI, Nov 10 - The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the staff of the Northeast Frontier Railway have intensified drives to unearth touting activities in the NF Railway zone.

Officials said that in the last few days, four persons have been apprehended for doing the unauthorised business of procuring and supplying railway tickets at different places.

Two of the arrests were made in Assam. RPF and NFR staff conducted a drive at the Golaghat Station and arrested one Appu Chand (48) and recovered one ticket along with two requisition forms and Rs 500 from the tout. A case was registered against him.

Another RPF team conducted a drive at the Guwahati Station during which one Kapil Deo Singh (56) was apprehended. Three railway tickets, one cancelled ticket, five blank reservation forms, some other documents and cash were recovered from his possession and a case was registered under Section 143 of the Railway Act against him.

Similar drives at Katihar and Siliguri Junctions also led to two more arrests.
